Angle: The spacial difference between two lines. In Fu Xi Wen, two angles together create a tissue-angle.
Compass Angle: Part of the Tissue Angle, the Compass Angle relates to an angle between North, East, South, and West, parallel with the ground. North and South relate to the Earth plane of energy. East and West relate to the Man plane.
Container Qi: Energy that is held inside another structure. For instance, bile is the Container Qi of the gallbladder organ.
Controlling Cycle: Every phase of energy decreases another phase of energy when the two are found together. Fire controls Metal. Earth controls Water. Metal controls Wood. Wood controls Earth.
Early Heaven Bagua: A representation of how energy moves towards our planet from outer space. The creation of the Early Heaven Bagua is attributed to the first mythic emperor of China, Fu Xi.
Earth Plane: A plane of energy that is found due North and due South. Not to be confused with Earth Qi. The primary energy found in the Earth plane is Water Qi.
Earth Qi: One of the Five Elements. Earth Qi is created when energy accumulates together. Earth generates Metal according to the Generating Cycle. Earth controls Wood according to the Controlling Cycle. To the hands, Earth Qi feels full and thick like placing one's hand in mud. Earth Qi is considered the center of the Five Elements. The end of summer and/or the end of every season is considered the Earth Qi season. Saturn is the Earth planet.
Energetic Boxes: Fu Xi Wen "organs" that hold and store energy for the body. Energetic boxes are static in space around the body, despite the fact that the body moves dynamically through them like a gyroscope. Energetic boxes are created by the webbing of the lines of force. The Tissue-Angles are repeated in every energetic box. However, each box is physiologically and anatomically unique.
Fire Qi: A phase of energy where the energy moves from one location to another. Fire generates Earth Qi according to the Generating Cycle. Fire controls Metal Qi according the Controlling Cycle. The summer is the Fire season. Mars is the Fire planet.
Five Elements: Energy is immutable and unchangeable. However, it has five basic phases it can move through at any given time. These five are called the Five Elements: Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, and Wood. These words are metaphorical in nature and not meant to mean actual "water" or "wood". Wood energy, for instance, grows and stretches like a tree. Water Qi sinks and freezes similar to water.
Fu Xi: The first mythic emperor of China, credited with the discovery of Qi, Yin and Yang, Heaven, Man, and Earth, and other major developments in medicine. Fu Xi created the Early Heaven Bagua, a representation of how energy moves from outer space towards our planet, a fundamental theoretical contribution to the medicine called Fu Xi Wen.
Generating Cycle: When abundant, each Element of the Five Elements creates another Element. Fire Qi creates Earth Qi. Earth Qi creates Metal Qi. Metal Qi creates Water Qi. Water Qi creates Wood Qi. Wood Qi creates Fire Qi.
Heaven Plane: A plane of energy that moves straight up and straight down. The main form of energy in Heaven if Fire Qi.
Heaven, Man, and Earth: Three planes of energy that represent the three-dimensions of space. Similar to X, Y, and Z lines in modern mathematics.
Jing: Qi that accumulates intro structure. In order for our senses to perceive Qi, it must accumulate into Jing structures such as atoms, molecules, cells, and tissues. Jing is Yin where Qi is Yang. Jing is most associated with Water Qi. To treat Jing with Fu Xi Wen we use Fu Xi Wen Massage or magnets.
King Wen: A king of China who ruled several millenia ago. King Wen is attributed with the creation of the Later Heaven Bagua, a representation of how energy moves according to the compass, a fundamental theoretical component of the medicine Fu Xi Wen.
Later Heaven Bagua: A representation of how energy flows according to the compass. The creation of the Later Heaven Bagua is attributed to King Wen.
Line of Force: A natural electro-magnetic line that is created around the body due to the planet earth's magnetism. Lines of force are structural lines of energy for the body. In between lines of force one finds energetic boxes that are essentially energetic organs that hold energy and release energy along the lines of force. The lines of force are tied to the earth's planetary magnetism. Even though the body may move in space, the lines of force always remain tied to their associated compass directions.
Man Plane: A plane of energy that is found due West and due East. The Man level is the circuit of the body. The main energy of Man is Earth Qi.
Metal Qi: A phase of energy where the energy pushed outward in a single direction (as opposed to Wood which stretches in all directions). Metal creates boundaries and borders. Metal generates Water Qi according to the Generating Cycle. Metal controls Wood Qi according to the Controlling Cycle. Autumn is considered the Metal Qi season. Venus is the Metal planet.
Paint The Box: A system-level technique in which a single energetic structure such as a line of force or an energetic box is balanced according to the basic energetics of Heaven, Man, and Earth.
Qi: This is a traditional word for energy. Energy is the universal particle. It never changes its form, but it can be found in five basic phases known as the Five Elements.
T°: See Tissue-Angle.
Tissue-Angle: A three-dimensional angle that represents an unique tissue of the body. Every tissue-angle has two components: a Compass Angle and a Vertical Angle. Together, these two angles create a unique fingerprint for a tissue. Every tissue has a Yin tissue-angle that relates to the tissue's substance and a Yang tissue-angle that relates to a tissue's function.
Vertical Angle: Part of the Tissue-Angle, the Vertical Angle reflects the energy of Heaven that moves through our planet from outer space, Fu Xi's Early Heaven Bagua. This angle is found anywhere between directly up from the ground to directly down towards the ground.
Water Qi: A phase of energy, or Qi, where the energy sinks and slows down. Water generates Wood according to the Generating Cycle. It also controls Fire according to the Controlling Cycle. To the hands, Water feels cold. Winter is considered the Water season. Mercury is the Water planet.
Wood Qi: A phase of energy where the energy stretches. Wood generates Fire according to the Generating Cycle. Wood controls Earth according to the Controlling Cycle. To the hands, Wood feels like numerous, simultaneous, tiny pinches all over the hand. Spring is considered the Wood season. Jupiter is the Wood planet.
Yang: Part of the polarity Yin and Yang. In the creation of the universe, first energy exists in an undifferentiated state. Then it separates into the basic polarity of Yin and Yang. Yang is active, bright, functional, moving, hot, and expansive. In terms of the Five Elements, Fire is the most Yang Element. Wood and Metal are also Yang Elements. There are also Yang organs: gallbladder, bladder, small intestine, stomach, and large intestine. The most Yang directions are up, South, and East. Heaven is the most Yang energetic plane.
Yin: Part of the polarity Yin and Yang. In the creation of the universe, first energy exists in an undifferentiated state. Then it separates into the basic polarity of Yin and Yang. Yin is cold, dark, structural, congealing, stationary, and contractive. Water is the most Yin Element. Earth Qi is also a Yin Element. Metal is the Element where Yang turns into Yin. The Yin organs are the lungs, kidneys, heart, spleen, and liver. The Yin directions are down, West, and North. The Earth Plane is the most Yin energetic plane.
